The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a two-level road-rail bridge across the Padma river. It is the most challenging and largest Bridge in the history of Bangladesh. Not only this, breaking all the previous records it has got the prestige of the 6th largest and strongest breed in the world. The Bridge has a four-lane highway on the upper add a single-track railway on the lower level. The Bridge is 6.214 km long, 18.18m wide and 120m High. All 41 spans and it is capable of bearing 10,000 weight. The construction of the bridge starts on 26th November 2014 and ends on 23rd June 2022. The bridge was inaugurated on 25th June 2022 by the honorable prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Finally, it is opened on 26 June 2022 for all. After the inauguration the bridge connects Sariatpur and Madaripur, linking the southwest of the country to the Northern and eastern regions. With the construction of the Multipurpose Padma Bridge, The door of development is opened for the people of Bangladesh. Before the construction of the Padma Bridge people have to wait for a long time for crossing the river. At present, within a very short time, we can cross the river. Life has become easier after the construction of the bridge. After opening it earns 2,09,40,300 Taka from the tolls in the 1st 24 hours. In a word, it can be said that the Multipurpose Padma Bridge is a blessing for the people of Bangladesh.

The longest bridge in Bangladesh is the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. It is the sixth-largest bridge in the world upon completion. The dream Padma Bridge is the biggest project implemented by Bangladesh without any foreign aid. The bridge is being constructed with concrete and steel. The construction journey was started by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited on 7 December 2014. The whole construction is supposed to be completed by 2022. The length of the main bridge is 6.15 km and the width is 16.10 m. The bridge connecting Mawa in the Munshiganj district to Jajira in the Shariatpur district has two layers. It has a four. lane road at the top and a railway at the bottom. The Padma bridge will be used for rail, gas, power lines, and fiber optic cable expansion in the future. Completion of this bridge at a cost of over Tk. 30,000 crore will make a significant contribution to the social, economic, and industrial development of the southern part of Bangladesh. The bridge will play an important role in regional connectivity between Bangladesh and southeast Asia. After all, the project will directly benefit more than 30 million people (44,000 sq. km, which is 29% of the total area of Bangladesh). Although the World Bank and donors withdrew due to allegations of corruption, the Bangladesh government did not back down. The government decided to build the bridge with its own funds and the work is progressing accordingly. Work on the Padma Bridge is progressing at a normal pace. Everyone concerned is hoping that the construction work of the bridge will be completed within the stipulated time.
